Polygon is a Layer 2 scaling solution for the Ethereum blockchain built to expand its infrastructure development. Polygon helps Ethereum become a full-fledged, powerful, multi-chain system that can execute a low fee, high transaction output of roughly 7,000 TPS (transactions per second), making it comparable to Visa. Unlike Ethereum’s commonly congested Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus algorithm, in Polygon’s Proof of Stake (POS) commit chain, blocked transactions are confirmed by validators which scales the Ethereum network through its ability to solve inefficiencies that may hinder widespread adoption.
